| And it's about time
too, I hear you say! It's been 9 months since the last update (where did the time go) and yes the rumours are true, we have a new Ring Squire. |
So before I
officially welcome the new Squire I must say a big thank you to Uncle Don for running as
Squire for the last , ooh must be close on 6 or 7 years I'd say. So then, out with the old and in with the new. Welcome Rob (Bobnoxious) Pilgrim, of the Adelaide Men, to the office of AMR Squire. ...he's very keen so far, but they all start that way... He's been bugging me to get things done rather than the other way round, which is nice. Thanks to those who sent me updates and and articles, sorry I haven't replied much ...house renovations and looking for work has been calling. Hopefully I'll get regular updates happening (where have you heard that before?), so now the rest of you can send your bits in. (the endless hint!) Dave Purdue, of Britannia and Tyler's Oz, and the new squire are working on securing a domain name for the AMR site (like www.morris.org.au or something), so I'll keep you posted when somthing happens. The Kiwis have got one so we can't be upstaged ...oops, too late. So what's the news? Well, we have a few reports on festivals, like Woodford, the National and Adelaide's Mediaeval Farye. There's lots of Ales happening. A belated Ale report from Moreton Bay (my lateness not theirs), an interesting letter, A few CD reviews one of which is the long awaited "Grandson of Morris On" by Ashley Hutchings (of course) and friends and another by the Weeze and Suck Band (the Sydney Men and associates). There's lots of news snippets, an article on why we dance from the new squire (I told you he was keen!) and a newspaper article from the relentless Simon Pipe of the UK. So there's lots to read! Hedgemonkey and Adelaide Men's site have been updated also. I know this edition has a very SA
bias but that's what you get when not much comes in, but thanks again to those who did
send info in, it makes the job easier and the newsletter more intersesting. You can still email your articles to me at kimbo@visp.com.au (text in the body of the email and photos as attachments is best but Word will do) or post it to 23 Denman St Exeter. SA 5019. And I'll return them pronto. So then, that's enough guff from me, it's spring and there's dancing to do and renovations to get on with so see you next update! ...back to the shed. ooroo |
